It seems like the title of "World's Fastest Street-Legal Car" is being passed around faster than ever before. At first, the Bugatti Veyron held the title, until the SSC Ultimate Aero took the crown. Now, a new car steps up to the top spot. The 1,600 horsepower Maxximus G-Force.With a 0-60 mph time of 2.1 seconds, the Maxximus G-Force leaves the competition in the dust. Although the difference between the 2.8 second 0-60 time of the Veyron and this may feel the same, it's enough to make the Maxximus the quickest car on the road.
Indiana based Marlon Kirby and David McMahan both shared the dream of creating the world's fastest road car. Now, they can both share that title. Kirby and McMahan started with an already, ridiculously fast car, the Ultima GTR 720. Seeing as the Ultima GTR can hit 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, it was a great starting point for their quest.
After replacing the Ultima's engine, transmission and portion of the car's chassis, Kirby was ready to make his dream car. The Maxximus G-Force is powered by an all-aluminum 7-liter Chevrolet V8 and two Turbonetics turbochargers producing 1,600 horsepower at the flywheel. Puting that power to the wheels is a custom made, 3-speed paddle shift transmission.
The end result? A $3 million supercar capable of a 2.1 second 0-60 mph and 8.86 second run to 100 mph.
